My Beginning in Recovery

I went to my third meeting this week.  It is great to know that when you walk through the doors, no one cares if you are wearing brand name clothes, the latest in fashion, or even if you have your hair brushed or make up on.  You are accepted for exactly who you are... no strings, no expectations, just lots of hello, smiles, hugs, and I'm glad you made it.  A lot of the members of the group are way ahead of me.  I did get my books on Thursday and I got my T-shirt.  It is called Sink or Swim (SOS) and there is a bible scripture reference on the back.  In the group, one thing is for certain, no one would be there without God's help and without the desire to be healed.  Drugs, Alcohol, sex, food, and anything you can be an addict of, is just a band aid to cover up the hurt.  Peel off your band aids, and let the wounds heal!  I know that is what I'm trying to learn to do.

Celebrate Recovery is a program based on the eight principles from the Beatitudes.  They are listed just inside the first book, along with the 12 steps.  I have just gotten to my first lesson, and the first question was and is extremely hard to answer.

What was the question?  What areas of your life do you have power (control) over?  They want you to be specific.  It is a very difficult question to answer.

Can you answer it???

May God Bless you Abundantly!  May you have a God Filled Day!

Stepping Out With My Faith

Corinthians says, "through Christ all things are possible." I've heard it said many times, that God answers our prayers, and I know that is true. I've also heard it said that we have to claim it and it is ours. So here goes, here is my prayer and what I am claiming:

"God, I know I fall short in your eyes. I'm asking for forgiveness for my sins, doubting thoughts, unkind words about family and friends, not reading your word as much as I should, and for my anger. I'm asking for healing for my mother, sisters, nieces, nephews, brother in law, husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren over the loss of my dad. I'm asking for renewed strength for my husband and I. I'm asking for healing for any illness or sickness that is plaguing my family at this time, and for my mother in law's blood pressure and for her knees. Father, I'm asking for intervention on your part and that you will show us what we need to do as for as my husband goes with the imminent loss of his driver's license. Father, I'm asking for financial blessings for my family, for my sister's and their families. Father we face a grim financial future this evening and are looking to you for your promise that you will take care of all our needs. Father, please continue to hold us in your hands. Bless our families, guide us, lead us to where you want us to be. Father continue to watch over this nation, give knowledge and wisdom to the leaders of this world. Father, please provide us with a home, work, food and a direction for our lives. I ask this in your holy name, Amen."

Matthew 21:22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

John 16:24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Logic Dictates

Recently on one of the police shows I watched, I heard a profiler make the following comment: Logic dictates that if you believe in one, than you must believe in the other. They were talking about believing in God and the devil.

I had never really thought about that statement but it is true. If you confirm the existence of God, then you must confirm the existence of Lucifer. The bible tells us that Lucifer rebelled against God and he and his minions were cast out of heaven. Lucifer took a a third of the angels. You can read this in Revelations Chapter 12.

I've heard people say why does God let that happen? Or Why does God let people get sick or keep them from having babies? Why does everyone automatically assume God is at fault for these things? Evil has free reign in our world and we have free will. We are responsible for our choices and temptation is always in front of us. Even as Christians we are still tempted by sin and commit sins. God can step in when we ask for His help, His forgiveness. He knows our needs but we have to ask. The devil introduced sin into this world and although his reign will be short, he is allowed to roam this earth.

Evil is the handiwork of the devil and his minion of demons. The dragon was thrown out of Heaven because he started a rebellion against God. God is not to blame for our maladies, illnesses or the diseases of this world - Man and evil are the ones responsible. If we as Christians have the ability to heal the sick, cure disease or raise the dead, why is there still all of that in the World? Remember God is not responsible for the evil of this world.
